I Love Stripes!!!

I do so love stripes and this rayon lycra fabric caught my attention the minute I spied it at Fabricville. Not only that but it spoke loud and clear and this is exactly what it insisted on being.

My inspiration was this outfit from Garnet Hill .com

The pattern is from Burda Style from the November issue of 2008, # 118. It has a  raglan sleeve with a curve which I really like.

The skirt is a simple tube with elasticized waistline.

I considered inserting  a casing with elastic at the waist of the top  but I changed my mind and decided to just leave it straight and wear it with a belt.

This outfit is perfect for my casual lifestyle but it`s casual with a little extra something, IMO! Except for the extra time it took while pinning to make sure the stripes matched in all the important places, this was an easy sew! I`m going to love wearing this together ....

or with various other bottoms like these yoga pants.

I also have a second Sandra Betzina jacket  V1385 made but will wait until the dress I'm making to coordinate with it is finished before I show it. so please come back next week!

i hope you had time to sew this weekend!

Love it! I'm just about to try my first striped shirt and I'm using a dolman pattern with cut on sleeves. I can't even imagine trying a raglan with curved seams like this. I love the style though!

Those stripes are awesome... and you wear them so well. I seldom do horizontal stripes... but have been bold enough to don them occasionally. I love the way you fashioned the top and skirt. Your detailed work on the neckline is superlative. Pairing the top with those navy slacks was a sheer stroke of genius. Don't get me wrong. I love it with the skirt as well. Either way you wear it, you look great! Keep up the good work.

I am coming out of lurkdom to say you have been making some wonderful things lately! I love this one the best - so cute on you and the colors are great, but I also love the black and white top (belted!) and the lilac dress and the new Betzina jackets (both of them) - so many winners lately! I think your new sewing room has really given you so new mojo haha! Thanks for sharing with all of us your love of sewing
