Vogue 8605 ( MY Version) for my Sister

I made this orange jacket using a modified version of Vogue 8605 in May.

When my sister saw it , she really liked it and I got her to try it on so I could surprise her with one for her birthday which was Sunday.

Here is my sister's jacket

The fabric is a suit weight linen trimmed with a coordinating striped linen in a lighter weight.

I made this jacket almost exactly like my orange one. Only the buttonholes are different in shape and made from the striped linen. The buttons were a Used Clothing Store find.

For the inside finishes , I used both flat-felled seams,

and a Hong Kong finish.

The bias bands at the hem and the bottom of the sleeves also added extra length to both.

To see more details on how I made this jacket you can refer to the link to my orange jacket in the first line of this post.

Here is my sister wearing her new jacket. I think she was really surprised and I know she loved it.

This jacket was a joy to make! I love working with linen!

What a lovely surprise for your sister and a beautifully made jacket. Love the Hong Kong finish (something I have never done in a jacket, only the waistband of a pair of pants.

Lucky sister! I love this version. I bought some striped bias binding on a whim recently. You may have given me some inspiration.
