This is probably going to be a favorite garment and I can see wearing it for years to come.
Here it is..
It's meant to replace this dress , also a Burda, which I made over 10 years ago and is going to go live with one of my sisters now.
It features curved lines joining the front and back to the sleeves. ( Please ignore the little darts in the neckline. I took them out.)
I was able to use the wide selvedge of fabric for the neck band.
The only other alteration I made was an FBA which I eased into the side seams rather than sew a bust dart and I flattened the shoulders a bit to allow for my sloped shoulders. Oh and I lengthened the sleeves.
This is the kind of garment which will be easy to accessorize and which can be dressy or casual.
I also love the muslin I made to test the pattern.
The fabric is a stretch lace I bought years ago from Julie at Timmel Fabrics.I had never found what I wanted to make with it so I decided to use it for this.
I made it tunic length, left it straight at the sides and I love it belted like this.
I cut it crosswise so I could use the selvedge which is scalloped for the hem and sleeves.
And I just happen to have dark grey boots!!!
And quite coincidentally it perfectly matches the granite grey of my Mini Collection.
Thanks for stopping by.

I like both of your dresses, the stretch lace tunic looks smashing on you, and the sweater dress changes as you change the accessories.
Nice work!
As I was opening the house this morning, I was thinking it would be a great sewing day. And that I am once again obsessed with sewing. What a wonderful, fulfilling and creative obsession we both have!
Love your mini-wardrobe!
I hope we both won!

Dress and tunic - both absolutely perfect. Definitely mainstays of a winter wardrobe!
Thank you Susan.Yes I am obssessed with sewing but have to admit that after the sewing and computer stuff marathon of last weekend , I' even too tired to sew much this week, I only sewed to get ready for the Sewing group I monitor.
Good luck to you too.
Love both pieces ! They look fabulous on you !
I too love both pieces - was the cable knit fabric easy to find I don't think I have seen any like that on my travels.
Gray is one of my favorites. Always picking up gray fabric when I really don't need to add to the stash. I need to check out that pattern. Think I was still taking Burda at that time. Both outfits are really nice!
These are both beautiful. I have a similar knit but I'll have to find the matching boots. I do love boots for winter:)
Beautiful new garments, they look fantastic on you. I love the sweater knit fabric from your dress.
Lovely dress and tunic and I can see why it will be a favourite.
I love both your dress and your tunic. You have such greatstyle. You look fabulous I love how you have styled them both.
This sweater dress looks completely RTW. I really thought you had bought it at a store. Great job! The lace version is nice as well.
Hi Diana, I just pulled my Nov 2008 issue and #118 wasn't a raglan sleeve. Could it be a different issue, OR perhaps I'm seeing things (which wouldn't be the first time). Thanks
Diana, I guess I AM going nuts. I was looking at the wrong year for November. I DID FIND THE PATTERN in Nov 2008. sorry for my confusion!!!
Beautiful Diana. I love this style of dress. Very pretty :)
