The pattern is OOP Vogue pattern 2679.
I loved the black stretch denim version I made first and I thought I'd make a new version. Not a good idea!
This pattern has had it's day and I'm not in love with my new jacket although it's fine. I didn't make pants but bought a pair of jeans instead to save time..
The fabric is a medium weight striped stretch cotton denim that I bought at C&M Textiles in Ottawa.
I top stitched using two spools of grey polyester thread .
The closures are heavy black snaps which I hate applying!!
I like the the cuffs. They can also be worn folded back.
I used a Hong Kong finish to give a clean finish to the inside of the jacket.
Please ignore the silly expression on my face in this photo!
I've worn this a few times and haven't gotten a single comment so I guess I'm not the only one who thinks it's mediocre! Lol!
I hope you had time to sew this weekend. Have a great week!

I don't agree with the jacket being mediocre at all! I think it's wonderful and I love how you finished the inside...but then again I'm a sucker for a Hong Kong finish.
ReplyDeleteI like the jacket. The style is flattering and looks neat made in a stripe. I still wear the one I made from this pattern, though mine is out of red lamb suede, and the color has a lot to do with making it a favorite for me.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Carolyn it isn't mediocre at all, and the Hong Kong finish is great.
ReplyDeleteI have two questions (1) do you make your own bias tape out of scraps of fabric (this is something I am thinking of doing and storing) and (2) have you found a way to dealing with the snap-on poppers - I hate these and always have problems when trying to apply them.
What a bummer you don't love it after so much work. :-( I can see how beautifully it is finished.
ReplyDeleteYour topstitching is very impressive. It's a beautiful garment, so I hope that you'll learn to love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame you don't like this jacket. You put so much work in it and the finishes are gorgeous. I love how you used the stripes.
ReplyDeleteNot mediocre! Perhaps your taste in clothes has changed. I think it's cute and looks great with the jeans.
ReplyDeleteThis is a lovely jacket! Perhaps it's too neutral a colour for people to really notice it. Wonderful finishing on the insides.
ReplyDeleteI HATE it when a pattern I've loved is past its prime. You have done a beautiful job and I love the top stitching. Wear it and enjoy it even tho it might not be your favorite now. It may "grow" on you, who knows?
ReplyDeleteI wish I could sew like you!
ReplyDeleteIt's very cute, I love the snaps. I have this twice as well, but both are zipper closures, snaps are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWow. What an eye for detail. Love the shirt.
